With a love for the coast and wanting to escape for a weekend away to say I do, Maddison and Chris’ Whitsunday elopement was an easy decision once they go there. After starting to plan a more traditional wedding back home, it all became more than either Maddison or Chis wanted for their day. So they scrapped their initial plans for a big wedding and planned their Airlie Beach elopement in just seven weeks.
Why did you choose the Whitsundays as your wedding destination?
Chris and I both love the coast! We are both from Queensland and when we decided to elope, the Whitsundays was the first to come to mind as our dream destination.
Who wouldn’t want to elope to the beautiful Whitsundays!?
How long did you stay in the Whitsundays and did you do any other activities whilst here?
We had only a short amount of time to take off – as absolutely no one had any idea what we had planned. We snuck off for a weekend away, Arrived in Airlie on the Friday, married on the Saturday and returned home to our surprised families on the Monday!
Did your wedding have a theme or a particular style?
Chris are both very easy going! So when it came to styling it was pretty simple – with a background like the Whitsundays I don’t think there is much you need!
My dress was a simple, strapless, slight fishtail, full lace gown. For my bouquet I wanted it to resemble something messy and not at all intentionally placed with Natural Greens and whites.
Flower Hut literally read my mind, my bouquet couldn’t have been more perfect!
Jewellery; I used an an old jewelled head piece that was placed in the back of my hair with babies breath, compliments of the wonderfully creative Luisa from Whitsunday Wedding Hair Lounge.
What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?
Having had planned for a moderately big wedding here in Townsville we had such a stressful time planning and organising a day that really neither of us wanted! The thing that meant most to us was that we were about become husband and wife – we both believed it was about a commitment to each other without the stress of anything else.
The best thing about our destination wedding was driving down to Airlie so excited with absolutely no stress or worry at all!
Being able to trust our wedding planner, Roxanne, with our wedding was absolutely bliss she took care of everything! It gave us our day- stress free and exactly how we wanted it!
